Q. Can we enter previously made movies in Movie Making Madness
2005?
A.
No. All movies must be created during the 2 week time period and
must be based on the genre and subject assignment.
Q. Is there a 2nd Round of filming as in past competitions?
A.
No. This year's competition has only 1 round of filmmaking
Q. How are different genres/subjects judged against each other?
A. Regarding judging the films
against each other; as stated in the rules, the films will be scored
on a point system by the judges and the top 20 films will be
decided. Here is how it works. We will announce the top 3 films in
each genre/subject at a date TBA. The top film from each
genre/subject (a total of 8 films) will automatically advance into
the top 20 films to compete for the prizes. The remaining 12 films
will be selected based on their scoring in their respective genres.
So, for example, 4 genres may advance 2 films to the top 20 and the
remaining 4 genres may advance 12 into the top 20. The top 20 films
will then be judged against each other for the top prizes. In
addition to the prizes, there will also be several awards that will
be given including, but not limited to, best acting, directing,
writing, etc. as well as best film in each genre/subject.
Q. Can I satirize my genre? For
example, if my genre is horror, would making a film that is
satirical of the horror genre be fine?
A. Yes. We want to stress that you
can interpret your genre/subject assignment in creative ways. It
does not have to be a typical horror film or typical drama. If you
want to make it humorous or dramatic or even musical, go for it.
BUT MAKE SURE it has elements of your genre and your story revolves
around the subject you were assigned. Use your best judgement - if
your film can't be interpreted as the genre you were assigned, you
might need to change something.
Q. Do the movies have to be in English?
A.
No. They may be in any language you like, but we strongly advise
foreign movies to be subtitled or dubbed (as English-speaking judges
and audience will be viewing them).
Q. What is the age limit for the participants?
A.
The only restriction on age is that the team representative must be
18 years of age or older.
Q. Is there a limit to the number of team members?
A.
No. There is no maximum or minimum number of team members. So, if
you think you can do it by yourself, go for it.
