THE SCREENWRITING CHAMPIONSHIPS is the newest competition from NYC Midnight to provide an educational, competitive and exciting challenge to writers around the world.  Writers are challenged to create short screenplays 5 pages or less based on a genre, location and object assignment and accumulate points based on their placement in each round of the competition.  Every writer that registers will compete in at least 2 challenges, and writers can compete in as many as 4 challenges based on their placement in each round.  Judges feedback will be provided to the writers for every story submitted and a special peer review forum will be created where writers can comment on each other's stories.

HOW IT WORKS:  For a detailed description of how the competition works, click here.  This competition is a little more detailed than our previous competitions, so if you have any questions please ask away in our Q&A forum.

Registration is now closed.  Good luck to the writers participating!

  1st Round (Challenge #1) October 24-26, 2008
  1st Round (Challenge #2) November 21-23, 2008

  3rd Round (Challenge #4) January 9-11, 2009

JUDGES COMMENTS / CRITIQUES: We will be providing judges comments and critiques for every entered screenplay in each round of the competition.

PEER REVIEW: During the judging, we will set up a special Review Forum for the participants to submit their screenplays for review from fellow writers.  This year in the Screenwriter's Challenge, there were over 2,000 comments made on the 150+ screenplays submitted on the forum.

Participating Judges (1st & 2nd Rounds):  Melissa Aman, John Boni, Philip Daay, Paul Dickinson, Matthew Heiti, Jennifer LaMoureaux, Dustin Luke Nelson, Michael Ugulini, and Crystal Wood
