#3 'Horoscope Truths' by Daniel Myerson SYNOPSIS - A memory of summer days in the park, where an uncle’s lessons in trust and perception led to the discovery of unwanted knowledge.


#4 'Birds From Her Piano' by Tom Martin SYNOPSIS - An elderly man’s wife has gone missing. Everyone seems to know the truth, but no one’s talking.


#5 'Escape to San Sebastian' by Jessica Ramesch SYNOPSIS - A semi-retired tour guide, Ben immigrated to America when he was in his twenties. Now, fifty years later, something from the past is threatening to ruin his golden years.


#Honorable Mention 'Here's What Happened' by Nathaniel Edson SYNOPSIS - Two detectives investigate a gunfight at a nightclub that’s a front for the mob. A remarkable explanation seems to be the only one that makes sense.


#Honorable Mention 'INSPECTOR NERI AND THE CASE OF THE LYTTON WARBLER' by Andrew Dugas SYNOPSIS - When Allston Hayes, millionaire inventor of a lucrative algorithm for generating real-time horoscopes, is found shot in his own study, it looks like the perfect murder. Only Inspector Neri can be trusted to find — or rather, stumble upon — the truth, thanks to the dedication of dozens of bird watchers.
