If your story is listed below in the top 5, congratulations on advancing to the 2nd Round kicking off at 11:59PM EDT this Thursday, March 17th!  Regardless if your story placed or not, everyone should be proud for rising to the challenge and creating an original story from scratch in just 8 days.  This was our largest field ever and there were many great stories that aren't recognized below.  Thank you to everyone for participating, we hope it was an inspiring experience!
 

#1 'Until The Sand Glitters With Precious Jewels' by Deidre Clark SYNOPSIS - Solange, an accomplished ASL translator for the deaf, loses her job after passionately communicating her views while interpreting at a presidential debate. After moving to a small village, a supernatural interloper helps her with her one wish.


#2 'Blow Out The Candles' by Tasha Stewart-Gallant SYNOPSIS - A pregnant Olivia struggles to control her special needs child after suffering a series of miscarriages. Little does she know, there is more to both her sonís condition, and her own, than she has allowed herself to believe.


#3 'Childhood Glosses' by Christine Malcom SYNOPSIS - In the wake of the loss of his adoptive parents, a man finds himself alone again with his childhood ghost.


#4 'The Taylor Hall Ghost' by Lisa Grimes SYNOPSIS - A young woman goes away to college and is relieved to find that there, just like at home, some of her best friends are ghosts.


#5 'Beneath the Willow' by Nicole Katze SYNOPSIS - Alistair spends his time distracted by the texts he translates for a living. But he is forced to remember his dark past when mysterious young girls appear on his doorstep.


#Honorable Mention 'Isn't It' by Joshua McCuen SYNOPSIS - A ghost finds itself stuck in the confines of a short story, while a husband tries to figure out what exactly his wife wanted to say with that very same tale.


#Honorable Mention 'The Yellow Tiger' by John Feighery SYNOPSIS - An ancient Chinese exhibit containing an evil spirit is brought to the Guggenheim in New York City.
